Just take a big breath, relax. I’m glad you’re here.

I'm Chuck Waters.

I'm a husband, the guy behind these stories, and a longtime massage therapist, which means most of what I know about people I learned by listening. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is where I was born and raised.

As I got closer to fifty, a lot of what I'd built my identity around started to fall away, and instead of trying to replace it, I decided to pay closer attention.

This is where that attention turned into something I wanted to share, not because I've figured life out, but because I haven't stopped paying attention, and I don't think you have either.

The Year Everything Fell Away and I Learned to Fall With Style

There's a reason the rest of this site exists, and it starts here: the year I turned fifty and decided to stop postponing my own life. I won't tell you the whole story on this page. That's what the book is for. Available now on Amazon.

Becoming

Becoming is a one-year experiment in intentional living, running from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, and unfolding here in real time. It's an ongoing experiment in paying attention: to my choices, my relationships, the ordinary days that make up most of a life. I'm still in the middle of it. I don't know exactly how it ends. That's sort of the point.

Behind Becoming

Once a month, I send an honest letter and video about how the Becoming experiment is actually going, covering the parts that worked, the parts that didn't, and what I noticed in between. It's not a highlight reel. It's the real, ongoing version.
